Following on from the City of Light Action Plan, Bigg Design, working alongside Lightfolio, co-designed the illumination for the newly refurbished Perth & Kinross Council Headquarters.
After an extensive £10m renovation project, the lighting was the jewel in the crown and not only brings this impressive building to life but also creates a wonderful gateway to the foot of Perth High Street.
Overall, a respectful approach was taken for illuminating this stately building with the use of discreet warm white lighting carefully placed to reveal architectural details to their full. The specification of high-efficiency LEDs with excellent colour rendering capabilities has brought out the most natural stone colouration with minimal energy use. Particular attention was paid to the tower and dome as these can be seen from a great distance and now act as a beacon for the city.
On special calendar days and events the strategic use of colour lighting is introduced to further enliven the building and has been paired with a sophisticated control system enabling flexible and remote control to transform the illumination with ease.
