Together with Lightfolio, we worked alongside international architecture firm Keppie Design to develop the concept design for the exterior lighting scheme and public realm landscaping for a new multi-million pound office development in Glasgow city centre.

The stand-out feature of the lighting design focuses around the magnificent glazed façade of the north face of the building. A vast array of LEDs embedded within the windows forms a network of individually addressable lights that will be used to create beautiful animations across the building (see video). These sweeping patterns act as a perfect interface between public realm and private office spaces, creating a gentle undulating counterpoint to the hustle and bustle of city centre life.

The concept for the public realm features a mirrored copper material (used throughout the building’s exterior) to reflect interesting angles of it’s surroundings and offers passers-by an unusual set of perspectives of both themselves and the surrounding environment. Paired with native Scottish planting, an energy efficient lighting scheme and simple yet bold paving, this scheme encourages interaction with the public and provokes curiosity from viewers.
