Assisting Lightfolio with their lighting design for the notable St Michael’s Parish Church in Linlithgow, Bigg Design helped realise the scheme with the use of bespoke lighting bracketry that would make minimum impact on the building and comply with listed building consent.

The brackets needed to blend in as seamlessly as possible and were a mixture of a discreet cantilevered design that supported feature light suspensions above the choir with minimal tensile wire supports; and hidden light mounts that braced LED lamps between the upper window frames and radiators, allowing uplighting of the arches and floodlighting of the ceiling and nave, without damaging any of the delicate stonework.

A minimal, wire-braced, cantilevered bracket suspends the light fittings above the choir area, creating a delicate series of focal points at the head of the church.

Custom brackets with screw clamps hold the lights in place allowing the arches, ceiling and congregation areas to be beautifully lit without damaging the historic stonework.
